FAQs
-
Can I really get coverage no matter where I live? Is it really portable if I move or need care away from home?
Yes, the company I represent is now available in all the states of the US. If you move, or go on vacation, or live multiple places throughout the year, your insurance goes where you do.
-
What if I’m already on a marketplace/ Obamacare plan? Can I switch now?
Yes, you can obtain private insurance anytime of year, there is no open enrollment period. Just because you are on the marketplace doesn’t mean you have to stay there, you can cancel at any time.
-
How does the coverage work? Do I pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed, or…?
The coverage works a little differently than marketplace or major medical insurance. There are no copays, you just present your insurance card at the time of service and you don’t have to pay money up front. We will pay directly to the facility or you can choose to have all the payment made directly to you (indemnity).

I’m worried that I’ll think I’m covered for something, and then end up with a big bill because of something in the fine print.
That is a very understandable concern and unfortunately it happens way too often. Many major medical plans have pages of exclusions and limitations that most people don’t read only to find out that what services they used are not going to be covered. The coverage I represent has very few specific limitations, and I am very transparent about them when going over the coverage.
-
What about pre-existing conditions?
One of the things I love most about the coverage I provide is that once you are approved, they don’t exclude pre-existing conditions. Either you get approved or you don’t.
-
My monthly payments will probably increase when I switch, right?
Not necessarily. Most of the time I am able to save people around 30% on their existing monthly premium. The premiums with the company I represent increase very slightly as you age, but never as a result of using the policy. Other insurance companies will raise premiums over 10% or even 20% in one year. That won’t happen with this coverage.
-
How do I know which providers are in-network?
You are able to use the doctor or hospital of your choice with this coverage. However, we align ourselves with First Health Network, one of the largest and richest networks in the country to offer you the options of choosing an in network doctor or facility and take advantage of deep network discounts. I send an email to each policyholder after we do the application that has a link to the provider network website and instructions on how to navigate it.
-
Why go through you? If you represent Medical Mutual Protect, couldn’t I reach out to them directly?
You have the option at any time to call home office and talk to a customer service representative. However, I have had many policyholders call me and complain how awful their experience was when they did that. I know more about your situation then they do and I have more knowledge about the products I offer and the best way to use them. Any information that a policyholder needs from home office, I can get that info for them with a simple email. My policyholders will have a much better experience working with me, rather than working with someone who only has information they can gather from a computer screen.
-
Is there an option to include dental?
Yes. We offer either a fixed dental only plan, or you can get a full dental/vision plan.
-
Can I add family members (spouse, kids) to my plan?
Yes. You can add family members at any time to your plan.
-
Can I start with a particular package and add to it later?
Yes. In fact, many new business owners start with a specific package that offers good protection and is in a price range that they can afford. Then once they have more income, they can add other benefits to the plan and build it up over time.
-
Do I have the ability to cancel the coverage at any time?
Yes. All of our plans are guaranteed renewable, which means that the insurance company can’t cancel your coverage for any reason other than lack of paying the premium. You are able to cancel whenever you choose.
-
What if I can’t get approved for your insurance?
All of the applications for the insurance I provide are fully medically underwritten. Not everybody who applies is able to get approved. I am very thorough in asking questions during our initial interview to make sure the coverage I provide is the right fit for you, and to determine if you have a greater than 50% chance of getting approved. When I meet with a prospective policyholder who has medical conditions that would make them uninsurable, I will lead them to colleagues that have other options to help get them the coverage they need.

Is there a charge for a consultation? Will I be pressured to sign up at the end of the call?
Not at all. I do what I do because it genuinely matters to me to find my clients the best possible coverage at the best possible rates. Our call is completely free of charge (and of pressure!) and simply a way for you to learn more about your options.
